FAQs

Will my story be completely anonymous?

Yes, absolutely. The entire purpose of this podcast is to provide a safe space for people to share stories they couldn't otherwise. We don't ask for your name, organization, or any other identifying information in the survey. You can speak freely, and we will not use any details that could reveal your identity.

Can I delete my recording after I submit it?

Because submissions are completely anonymous, we have no way to link a recording back to you. The moment you hit "finish," your story is disassociated from your device and any personal data. This is how we ensure your anonymity, and it also means we cannot delete a specific recording once it has been sent.

What kind of stories are you looking for?

We're looking for the juicy stuff! The stories that don't make it into the annual report. We want to hear about those unbelievable, absurd, hilarious, or embarrassing moments from your nonprofit career. Whether it's a fundraising mishap, a bizarre "in-kind" donation, or an unforgettable board meeting, if it's a messy moment that shows the reality behind the mission, we want to hear it.

Does my story have to be 100% accurate?

Your memory is your truth, and that's exactly what we want. We're not fact-checking; we're collecting authentic experiences. Don't worry if you don't remember every single detail perfectly—just tell the story as you recall it.

Do I have to be a great storyteller?

Not at all. Just tell us your story like you're talking to a friend over coffee. The hosts, Ashlea and Tia, will be on the podcast to provide context and commentary to your story.

Is this a live interview?

No, there is no live interview. You will simply type or record your story directly into the survey. It’s quick, easy, and completely on your own time.

How long should my story be?

You can record up to 2.5 minutes per question (or type as much as you’d like). This is the perfect amount of time to get straight to the good stuff.

Do I need special equipment to record?

Nope. Your smartphone, tablet, or computer's built-in microphone will work perfectly. Just find a quiet place and speak naturally.

Will my voice be on the podcast?

No, your recorded story will not be used on the podcast. We’ll use the transcript from your story as the foundation of your story – we’ll provide additional commentary.

What happens after I submit my story?

After you submit your recording, you'll receive a confirmation message. Our team will review the submissions, and if your story is selected for an episode, you'll hear it on the podcast!

What if I don't like my story on the podcast?

We hope you will like it! Because your identity is protected, there is no way for the public to connect the story to you. The podcast's mission is to celebrate the absurdity of the shared nonprofit experience, not to embarrass any one person (or organization).

The hosts will be on the podcast to provide context and commentary to the story, ensuring that the focus is on the humor of the situation itself, not on the individual.
